OK- 8 weeks and 5 days left.
I spent my free time last night and this morning finishing my quilted tree skirt. It is just what I had in mind when I started it a few months ago. I did not have a pattern and don't think far enough in advance to make one so I basically sewed a bunch of three inch strips together, trimmed them into 9 wedge shapes following a template that I cut from paper, then sewed them all into a circle. The 6 inch wide section at the bottom was added after the first few were sewn together and I realized it was not long enough ( At this point I pulled out the Christmas decor boxes and dug out my usual tree skirt to use for reference ). After the wedges were sewn together I had to make and add an extra wedge- I estimated 8 and ended up needing 9! After that was done, I backed it with a white sheet from Target then added a layer of batting in the middle then quilted it simply by following the lines of the strips sewn together... My new favorite thing is spray quilt batting- I will never pin quilt layers again! I bound it with black and made ties out of the bias tape I used for binding. I can't wait to see it under the tree this year- it almost makes me want to put my tree up now! This may be my favorite thing I have made yet, it was fun to have an idea in my brain and to just go for it making changes and additions along the way

That is gorgeous! I'm so impressed with your mad quilting skillz! I just finished a wall hanging quilt myself and it feels SOOO good to have it done.
I'm sure your tree will look fabulous with this beautiful skirt. Great job!
beautiful tree skirt. I may have to finally put my wedge ruler to use.
